Bioethics
Bioethics is the field of ethics focusing on ethical issues raised by the delivery of health care.

Typical ethical issues in bioethics relate to:
  • Patient well-being - doing what is good or right; preventing harms; eliminating harm; reducing harm; medical error;
  • Patient autonomy - informed choices; privacy; confidentiality; and
  • Distributive justice - the fairness of access to, or distribution of, healthcare resources on macro and micro levels.

EthicSA's bioethics activities are in research. We have done research projects on bioethics issues focusing on national trends as well as healthcare institutions, all with a focus on social aspects of healthcare delivery. Our research is also shared through education (such as Continuing Professional Development or CPD talks for healthcare professionals) and advisory services (such as ethics opinions and membership of industry ethics committees.)
